Salty Memories

Do you remember ...

Do you remember the day when the wind
Whispering its fantasy of sweetness
Kissed your hair
And caressed your face?

Do you remember that day, that play
Of life lived in a roller coaster of embraces
Of deep revelry and softness
When I held you?

Do you remember that time, that passion
That lust for life, that aching deepness
When we loved, and lay
Before the glowing embers
The wine, the delicious taste
Of love?

Do you remember how we lost ourselves
In a weekend of silent looks, books
Of windswept moments
And the taste of the salty sea air?

Do you remember
Can you forget
How it was that time
Those sweet bitter days
Of love and lust
That longing, that thirst
That craving for completeness
Together in one?

Do you remember, do you remember
That echoing dream
The night, the day, the night
The breathless cavorting
The satisfaction, the completeness
Do you remember?

Do you remember, it echoes in my thoughts
That memory, that endless time
Love lost in a frozen moment
Reality fixed in a dream
Do you remember like I do?

Do you remember?

Life and Death

Sweet the light that transcends  the dark mists
That penetrates the delicate graying veil
Bringing new hope to an aging soul

Yesterday was a death, a passing
A reminder of the frailness of life
Of ambition extinguished like a candle flame

Life is an illusion as such
A record of events that gather dust
A play that has run its course

What then of now
It is an illusion, too
Death so near reminds me

That life is to be lived
To be tasted, devoured, savored
And throwing back the fears, the depression

To stride once more upon the stage
To deliver, to love, to pause and enjoy
The sweet dawn, the ebbing day, the dark night

 June

In the heat of a June day
We will dance in
the sun's flame
And greet the chorus
of angels
With kisses and
praise

In the heat of a June day
Our passion spent
in rejoicing the glory
of a summer's reunion
We will linger
in the gentle breeze
of an ocean's kiss
And cry out with joy

In the heat of a June day
I will relax
in the shade
of a bougainvillea
bower
Watching you dream
in warm welcoming
of our loving

In the heat of a June day
I will greet your
graceful slumber
In the mind's passionate
embrace of love
Love, that conquers
all
For here in the heat of June
Our destinies will
entwine

Pillars of Desire

I await ....your arrival, my angel
here among the pillars of desire.
    My torment - neglected here;
You, lost in your lofty ideals,
                           Me....lost, unsure.
     I await you....longingly
To touch you with my lips
caress the hem of your silken wrap
stroke your golden hair, to taste
                    the honeysuckle nectar flowing
from the fount of your sweetness.

Hidden, in the shadows, my illusions
Your life has become mine, your breath-
my breath, your heart -  my heart.

My thoughts tempt me into a dance.....
of passion in a secret garden
                    occupied only by our love.

     As autumn changes green oak
           burnt sienna, and crisp breezes
             heighten our senses....before dreams
of winter lull us to sleep again,
           I await your golden love-
your heart to open and take me
                   among the pillars of desire.

Deep Waters

Poetry, Prose, Photography and Plant Pathology

Deep Waters is a site about life, living and love through the eyes and ears of Michael David Coffey. It deals with transformation, regeneration, rebirth, discovery and the spiritual connection. There are various themes: romantic love, eroticism, life's journey, the soul. It concerns itself with discovery in Ecuador searching for wild tomatoes, Bulgarian art and poetry, Russian culture-old and new, the Amazon, Brazil, the islands of Boracay and Palawan in the Sulu Sea. It looks at Ireland and the Great Famine. It describes the art and science of Plant Pathology, a profession born out of the misery of disease and starvation caused by the Irish Famine. Above all it is a site concerned with Shadows, Regeneration, Enlightenment, Celebration of Life and Deep Waters.
